TVS to Launch New Budget Electric Scooter Below iQube Range During Festive Season 2025

TVS Motor Company is gearing up for an action-packed year in the Indian two-wheeler market. With multiple new products lined up, the homegrown brand is looking to make strong inroads across various segments. While its highly anticipated middleweight adventure bike, the RTX 300, is expected to hit roads later this year, TVS is also preparing to launch a more powerful version of its popular sporty scooter – the Ntorq – with a 150cc engine. And now, there’s another exciting update: a brand-new, entry-level electric scooter is in the works and will reportedly launch during the upcoming festive season of Diwali, between October and November 2025.

This new electric scooter will be positioned below the current iQube range, making it the most affordable electric offering from TVS. As one of the top three EV brands in India, TVS seems set on expanding its footprint further in the fast-growing electric mobility space.

Positioned Below the iQube

Sources suggest that this upcoming electric scooter could carry a starting price tag of around ₹90,000 (ex-showroom). To put things into perspective, the TVS iQube currently starts at around ₹1 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh battery variant and goes up to ₹2 lakh for the top-end version equipped with a larger 5.1 kWh battery.

With affordability being a key highlight of this new product, the upcoming model is expected to come with a smaller battery – likely a 2.2 kWh unit or possibly even less – offering a practical range of 70–80 km on a single charge. It is also expected to be powered by a hub-mounted motor sourced from Bosch, similar to the setup used in the iQube. This should offer decent performance for urban commutes while keeping costs under control.

Given its budget-oriented nature, it is safe to assume that the design of this new electric scooter will be simple and functional rather than flashy. The feature list, too, is likely to focus on essentials—expect basic instrumentation, standard lighting, and limited connectivity options compared to the more premium iQube.

What Could It Be Called?

While the official name of the scooter hasn’t been revealed yet, there are some interesting speculations. Some reports claim that TVS might leverage the popularity of the ‘Jupiter’ brand name and christen this electric scooter as Jupiter EV. The TVS Jupiter has been one of the most successful petrol scooters in the country, and using the same name could help build instant brand trust and familiarity in the EV segment.

Adding to the intrigue, TVS recently showcased a CNG version of the Jupiter at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, hinting at a broader strategy to diversify the Jupiter lineup across multiple fuel types.

Another possibility being floated around is that the new EV could be the electric version of the iconic TVS XL moped. The XL100 is currently the most affordable petrol-powered two-wheeler in the country and enjoys a loyal customer base in rural and semi-urban areas. The speculation gained more ground after TVS filed trademarks for names like XL EV and E-XL, which clearly point toward an electrified iteration of the XL series. If TVS goes down this route, the new EV could serve as an ultra-affordable electric mobility solution for utility-focused riders.

TVS’s Electric Journey So Far

TVS entered the electric two-wheeler space in 2020 with the launch of the iQube. Since then, the company has steadily grown its presence and expanded its portfolio. In August 2023, TVS launched its performance-oriented TVS X electric scooter, and deliveries began in early 2025.

Fast forward to May 2025, and TVS has achieved a major milestone—it became the top-selling electric scooter brand in India, with monthly sales crossing nearly 20,000 units. This remarkable growth underlines the brand’s strong focus on EVs and signals a promising future for its upcoming launches.

What to Expect

While we wait for an official announcement, one thing is clear: TVS is taking its electric journey seriously. With a well-thought-out portfolio catering to different price points and user segments, the company is poised to strengthen its leadership in the EV space. Whether the new electric scooter will wear the Jupiter, XL, or an entirely new badge remains to be seen, but it’s certainly one of the most anticipated launches of the year.

As the festive season draws closer, expect more teasers and official details to trickle in. Until then, stay tuned as TVS prepares to make affordable electric mobility even more accessible to Indian buyers
