Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported its sales data for March 2025, showing growth in overall numbers. The company sold a total of 1,92,984 units in March 2025, reflecting a 3.1% increase compared to 1,87,196 units in March 2024. Along with this, the company has announced record-breaking annual sales figures for the fiscal year 2024-25. Maruti Suzuki has achieved more than 2 million units in annual sales for the second consecutive year.
Record-Breaking Annual Sales Figures
During the financial year 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever total sales, reaching 22,34,266 units. This represents a 4.6% increase compared to the 21,35,323 units sold in FY 2023-24. These sales figures include record domestic sales of 17,95,259 units and all-time high exports of 3,32,585 units.
Strong Export Performance
One of the biggest factors behind this growth has been the company’s strong performance in exports. Maruti Suzuki exported 3,32,585 units in FY 2024-25, showing a significant 17.5% rise from 2,83,067 units in the previous year. This export success has played a key role in the company’s overall sales growth.
Shifting Consumer Preferences Towards SUVs
A closer look at the numbers reveals changing consumer preferences. Utility Vehicles (UVs) have emerged as the best-selling segment. In March 2025, Maruti Suzuki sold 61,097 UVs, a 4.6% rise from 58,436 units sold in March 2024. Over the full fiscal year, UV sales grew by 12.1%, reaching 7,20,186 units compared to 6,42,296 units in FY 2023-24.
Decline in Small Car Sales
This surge in SUV and UV sales has helped Maruti Suzuki balance the decline in smaller car sales. The mini segment, which includes models like the Alto and S-Presso, saw an 11.5% drop in annual sales, with 1,25,770 units sold. Similarly, the compact car segment, featuring models such as the Baleno, Swift, and WagonR, declined by 6.9%, totaling 7,70,737 units for the year.
Future Outlook
Maruti Suzuki’s performance in FY 2024-25 highlights a shift in consumer demand, with more buyers preferring larger vehicles like SUVs over smaller cars. The company’s ability to adapt to these trends, along with strong export numbers, has helped it maintain its leadership in the Indian automotive market.
As Maruti Suzuki continues to grow, it remains focused on expanding its portfolio to meet changing customer preferences. With record-breaking sales in both domestic and international markets, the company is set to build on this momentum in the coming years.
